The Book Club is a neighborhood bookshop and café on Johnson Drive in Mission, Kansas, created by the team behind Truly Madly Depot. Our corner of Mission sits in a perfect pocket of the Kansas City metro. It is walkable, friendly, and full of regulars who know where to find the good stuff. Truly Madly Depot has become a little creative hub on this block, so opening a bookish café just a few doors away simply makes sense. The Book Club extends that same spirit into a space for reading, sipping, talking, and staying awhile.

Co-owners Matthew and Kimberly Hoppock built The Book Club around what they love most. Matthew is an immigration attorney who worked his way through college and law school doing many things, including pulling espresso shots and waking up before dawn as a morning baker. He has always dreamed of opening a coffee shop or bakery. That dream shows up in our kitchen where the focus is quality over quantity, with as much fresh and from-scratch as possible.

Kimberly brings a background in design and marketing. She cares about how a space feels, how a menu reads, and how the details add up to a great experience. Together, we sweat the small things so you can relax into the big ones, like a good conversation or a book you cannot put down.
